5 Juneteenth Events in San Antonio We Can’t Wait For
At Culture Travels Media, we’re obsessed with covering the best in travel, culture, and entertainment—especially when it reflects the depth, joy, and brilliance of the Black experience.
Through our content, products, events, merch, and cultural activations, we help people see themselves as travelers and global citizens while honoring the legacy of Black internationalism. Whether we're documenting soul food tours in the Deep South or exploring diasporic creativity across the globe, our mission is always the same: tell stories that move with purpose.
Right here in San Antonio, we’ve been doing just that—hosting events and bringing cultural marketing to life through intentional storytelling. And this year, we’ve been tapped to help tell the story of Juneteenth in San Antonio.
We’re bringing you content that celebrates the past, present, and future of Black freedom. That includes creative photo shoots featuring local designers posed powerfully in front of San Antonio’s historic Green Book sites, the Juneteenth Passport—a citywide activation that supports small businesses and drives cultural engagement—and interviews with community leaders and event organizers making this moment matter.
We’ve got a lot in store. But first, we’re kicking things off with five Juneteenth events we can’t wait to attend.
African American Book Festival
There’s something sacred about Black literature. This year’s African American Book Festival uplifts the writers, thinkers, and storytellers who shape our narratives and reclaim our histories. We’re looking forward to browsing tables stacked with truth-telling and transformation—and meeting the people who put pen to paper to preserve our legacy.
Black Is… Black Ain’t
Art has always been a language of liberation. This multimedia experience brings together film, music, and Black expression in ways that ask powerful questions about identity and belonging. “Black Is… Black Ain’t” promises to be both soul-stirring and mind-opening—a creative meditation on who we are and who we’ve always been.
Juneteenth Freedom & Fashion Day Party
Style is storytelling—and Black fashion has always been bold, beautiful, and revolutionary. This fashion show and day party celebrates the artistry of local designers, stylists, and models who use fabric and form to speak freedom. We’re pulling up for the looks, the vibes, and the powerful presence of Black creativity on full display.
Party in the Park
This one’s for the community. With music, food, games, and joy in the air, Party in the Park is a family-friendly celebration of culture and connection. It’s the kind of gathering where generations link up, elders share stories, and kids feel the love of a community that’s always held each other down.
Juneteenth Block Party
Block parties are where Black joy shows out. This Juneteenth celebration brings the energy with DJs, dancers, vendors, and cultural pride flowing from every corner. We’re excited to be in the mix—dancing in the street, catching up with neighbors, and honoring freedom the way we always have: together.
