What is The Juneteenth Passport?

Your Guide to the Ultimate Juneteenth Experience in San Antonio

This Juneteenth, we’re doing something a little different. A little bolder. A little more us.

Introducing the Juneteenth Passport—your interactive guide to celebrating Black freedom, culture, and creativity in San Antonio like never before.

Whether you’re a lifelong local or new to the city, the Juneteenth Passport is your invitation to experience Juneteenth, not just observe it.

WHAT’S INSIDE?

The Juneteenth Passport is a passport booklet designed to help you explore, collect, and experience your way through the Juneteenth events happening across San Antonio from June 19 to June 22, 2025.

The Juneteenth Passport booklet mirrors the look and feel of a traditional U.S. Passport, measuring 3.5 x 5 inches — easy to carry and perfect for collecting stamps as you explore.

To address three pains the Black community continues to navigate in San Antonio — and across the country — this passport was designed with intention:

  1. Information

  2. Cultural Representation

  3. Community Generational Wealth

From the very first page, the passport connects you to history. It opens with the story of Robert Purvis and his fight for Black citizenship through U.S. passport policy. In 1834, at just 23 years old, Purvis became the first known Black traveler to challenge the government for the right to a passport.

As you flip through the pages, you’ll find community. You’ll discover local Black history and meet modern culture builders shaping San Antonio’s creative and business scene today. You’ll visit five of the 80+ Green Book locations recently rediscovered by the San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum (SAAACAM) —each one a chapter of resilience that lives on through the Green Book bus tours.

The culture runs even deeper on the music page. Scan the QR code to access the 2025 Juneteenth mix — a soundtrack curated by local DJs Rhythm and Beats, blending the celebration of Black joy with the weight of Black resistance. Music that honors both the victories and the valleys of our shared story.

And of course, this passport is your personal guide to Juneteenth itself. Participating events are listed: poetry readings, gospel concerts, wellness workshops, historical tours — complete with event details, hosts, dates, and times.

But perhaps the most exciting section? The Business Directory — not just a list of businesses, but a direct path toward circulating dollars back into small businesses through the Juneteenth Passport Discount Program:

  1. Purchase your passport bundle.

  2. Collect two event stamps (listed in your passport & online).

  3. Present your stamped passport at participating businesses.

  4. Enjoy exclusive discounts and rewards — all the way through December 31, 2025.

It’s simple: purchase your passport, attend events, unlock discounts and help build wealth in your community.

There will only be 100 passport available.

It’s information in your hands.
It’s representation you can see and feel.
It’s wealth you help circulate.
